Cityscapes show

Artist's Statement

The history of downtown Salt Lake and the surrounding valley are magic to me. I like to explore and connect with the buildings, their stories, their cracks and crumbles, and catch them on a sunny Tuesday afternoon unawares. I express the beauty, uniqueness and diversity of Salt Lake City through plein air oil paintings.

Pioneers at Rest, 2025

11×14 oil on panel

This show brings 26 pieces of modern Salt Lake City into one collection. It includes historical buildings, quaint neighborhood views and corners, downtown alley ways, views toward the Great Salt Lake, and more.

As I was assembling the show, I wanted a mix of my recent work that showed old and new, sunny and overcast, public and sheltered. The footprint and motion of our city moves and shifts, and I would like to represent what 2020-2025 looked like here in Salt Lake City.
